![]() You can set the size, color, text prompt, visual prompt. The snap area prompt can be customized to your liking. I created a specific snap area for OmniFocus because the default 50% snap area is too small to display all the information that I need. The snap area can be set up as a universal snap area that applies to all applications or for a specification application. The standout feature from this app is the ability to create your own snap area. I assigned holding to move and to resize.) (Meaning, I don't use the window's top bar for moving or its corners for resizing because it's less efficient and I'm out of the habit now. It's actually become my default way to move or resize my windows. This is incredibly helpful when wanting to move or resize windows that are behind other windows. Besides being able to place windows exactly where I want them with a simple keyboard shortcut (or Drag Areas which I don't use), this app has a couple other features that are actually the most valuable to me: moving and resizing windows by simply holding modifyer key(s) and placing the cursor over any part of the window, whether the window is active or not. (And if I were to use Snap Areas, I can customize the look of them which is nice.) This app is incredibly useful for me for both software development and day-to-day use. Once you've set it up, it feels like it's just native OS behavior. For my use, BetterSnapTool is invisible and just works in the background to perform actions when I use certain modifyer keys and keyboard shortcuts. I think this is one of the best apps that you can get for just a few dollars. select what happens when right-clicking any of the red/orange/green window buttons of any windowīetterSnapTool is very customizable and will change the way you work with your Mac!īetterSnapTool works with almost every application, only some apps with non-standard windows can't be supported.select what happens when double-clicking a window's titlebar.move or resize the window below the cursor while holding customizable modifier keys.always accessible pop up menu showing all possible snap sizes / positions.customizable keyboard shortcuts to trigger any snap area. These can resize & move windows to any possible position. If you need even more than those standard snap areas, BetterSnapTool now allows you to create your own, custom snap areas anywhere on your display. This enables you to easily maximize your windows, position them side by side or even resize them to quarters of the screen. ![]() The widget is not visible on the TouchBar and just refreshes the width of the backgrounds of the brightness slider every 10 seconds.BetterSnapTool allows you to easily manage your window positions and sizes by either dragging them to one of the screen's corners or to the top, left or right side of the screen. What is the brightness slider helper widget? I made this because the system adjusts the brightness automatically every now and then. More info on the brightness package and how it is used with AppleScript. If you're a beginner, you might want to use only the volume slider. The brightness slider is also a little more buggy in general. The Brightness Slider needs the Homebrew package "brightness" to be installed (install Homebrew, then type "brew install brightness" in terminal). If you make any improvements to this, let me know! That's why this preset is not really perfect, but I wanted to share it anyways, because I haven't seen anything like this on here yet and I thought maybe some of you will find it interesting. While using them though, the slider track adjusts faster than the backgrounds and some other small visual bugs around the slider may appear for a second because the timing of the different settings being adjusted is not always perfect. Preset (especially brightness slider) is a little experimental: While just on the TouchBar indicating the volume/brightness level, the sliders look very pretty and clean. You can find info on update_trigger and UUID in the BTT documentation. ![]() So don't forget to replace the UUIDs in the code (in the sliders, the mute button and the brightness slider helper widget). For this, they use the BTT update_trigger method. When sliding, apart from controlling the volume/brightness, the slider widget also adjusts the fixed width of the white and gray backgrounds (as well as their corner radius) so that they line up exactly with the slider track. They both use the same mechanism: Behind the slider, there is a white and a gray Button (which are visible behind the slider because they are set to have a negative "free space after button" and because sliders have transparent backgrounds).
